German car maker BMW, debuted a fascinating and futuristic new concept at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show: A car with the ability to change colors on-the-fly.
The BMW iX Flow can change color as its surface is coated in E Ink, the same technology used in e-readers.
Currently, the colors are limited to black, grey and white. However, BMW thinks this lean palette could still prove helpful, particularly for optimising vehicle efficiency.Â
“This gives the driver the freedom to express different facets of their personality or even their enjoyment of change outwardly, and to redefine this each time they sit in their car,” says Stella Clarke, head of project for the BMW iX Flow.
